Monday- Planning day for teachers
Tuesday- Students will focus on correct grammar and usage (identifying fragments, run on sentences, correct spelling , comma usage)

Tuesday- We will do a Chomp Review as our Smart Start. Students will do persuasive writing in their journal.

Wednesday- All late work must be turned in today. It is my cut off day for grades this nine weeks.
Students will peer edit journal writing from yesterday.
Thursday- Classes that have worked hard, stayed on task and behaved according to my classroom rules will have a free period to socialize with their friends. They can bring a snack into the classroom.
The classes that did not earn this privilege will have Journal topics assigned and choose between two topics.
Friday- Vocabulary test and we will begin reading our first class novel.
Homework- New Chomp packet work on # 105-108 and Read AR book
October 16-20, 2017
Monday- Students will work in their journal answering questions from our novel The Bully. Spelling words for this week are as follows:

They should be written 10x each and they will have a test on Friday.
Homework- Read library book
Tuesday- Students will go to the computer lab for Achieve 3000 articles.

Wednesday- We will go to the Media Center. Students must pick out an autobiography or biography for their first book report of the second nine weeks.
Homework- Read AR book, study spelling words and Chomps # 113-114
Thursday- We will read in our novel and discuss the examples of bullying in the novel.
Homework- Study for Spelling test
Friday- Spelling words are due today. Spelling test today. Students will write in their journal.

**Extra Credit opportunity **- Students have the opportunity to write a 5 paragraph essay on the LSU vs. BAMA football game this Saturday. They should write a total of 25 sentences. It is due Monday first thing in class.

Paragraph 3= 3rd quarter
Paragraph 4= 4th quarter
Paragraph 5= concluding paragraph
This is an optional assignment.
Monday- We will wrap up our Talk show book reports. I am so proud of my students and how well they did with this assignment. We have experiences interviews with A-Rod, Taylor Swift, Bill Gates, Harriet Tubman, Malala Yousafzai, Tom Brady, Michael Jackson, Bernie Sanders, Hitler and Steve Jobs just to name a few.
Homework- Read library book Finish Chomp packet up to # 128 (no spelling or vocabulary words this week)
Tuesday- Journal Writing in class- Students will create a scene using characters, setting, plot and dialogue in writing a scary story.

Wednesday- We will visit the Media center as a class today. Students will be given their next Chomp packet starting with # 129. They can work on it while other tables are checking out and returning books.
Homework- Finish Chomp # 135-138 if not finished in class
Thursday- Achieve 3000 article in the computer lab

Friday- What is an infinitive? Students will work in the GUM book to complete pages 96-99.
