Monday 2/5/18 Students will work on a handout entitled "Writing Grabbers". If not finished in class it is homework.
Homework- Students should take "Writing Vocabulary" and "Characterization" test on USA Test Prep.
Tuesday 2/6/18- Students will go over a handout "Textual Evidence". They will write a 5 paragraph essay in their journal. Homework- USA Test Prep- "Inferences" and Chomps # 73-76
Wednesday 2/7/18- Students will read "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe and answer comprehension questions. Homework- USA Test Prep " ELA 3" should be completed. It will go into the grade book.
Thursday 2/8/18 - Students will read "Day of the Dead" in class and use context clues to infer and define vocabulary words. Homework- USA Test Prep "Transitions" Chomps # 77-80
Friday 2/9/18 - Students will read "Friday the 13th" and answer comprehension questions. Homework- USA Test Prep " Descriptive Language". It must be finished over the weekend.
February 12- 16, 2018 Monday- We will work in the computer lab on Achieve 3000. Students should complete "Shopping with the Stars" and "Who Would Buy That". Students are responsible for answering all blue swirls and each tab except for math. Homework- Please ask your child to show you all of the completed USA Test Prep assignments from last week. I will be entering more of those grades tomorrow. Test 1 will go into my grade book tomorrow. Tuesday- Students will read about the history of Mardi Gras. They will have to support answers to questions using textual evidence. Students to experience Barq's Red Creme Soda straight from New Orleans. Homework- Chomps # 85-90 and USA Test Prep "Synonyms and Antonyms". Wednesday- We will go to the computer lab for Achieve 3000 and USA test prep. Homework- Chomps # 94-98 Thursday- Chomp review and corrections as a class. Homework- Chomp 99-103
Friday- Achieve 3000 Homework- None
Parents please forgive my absence in the last few weeks. My mother is now receiving Hospice care in Louisiana and I will be traveling back and forth until God calls her home.
Feb 19- 23, 2018
Monday- No School Tuesday- Achieve 3000- "Women Who Changed the World" Homework- Read AR- Students will not have any book reports assigned this 9 weeks. They will have two the 4th 9 week period after GMAS testing. Wednesday- Students will use netbooks in the class room to take a late USA Test prep homework assignment or Achieve article "School for All" . Homework - Chomps # 97-103 Thursday- We will review Chomps and go to the computer lab. Homework- Chomps 104-108 and finish all USA Test Prep assignments. Friday- We will review Chomps and the RACE strategy with answering constructed response questions. Homework- Chomps # 109- 112, complete Lyric analysis green sheet and finish all USA Test prep assignments. They will be eliminated Sunday night at midnight. Grades of zero will be entered into the grade book if students did not attempt. February 26- March 2, 2018
